I used to be able to adjust my AirPod Pro but now that option is no available on my iPhone. It just disappeared as though it was deleleted. I can still hear differences when I wear them but it’s random volume changes and background noise reduction, nothing that improves my ability to hear better. At this point I am wishing I never bought them. I am a senior citizen and military veteran with limited. I could have used that $250 on something else.

When you say no longer available, do you mean the volume switches no longer work? The slider is gone from Control Center? The option to change it from noise canceling to off or back is gone? Can you share a screenshot of what you mean?

make sure you have conversation awareness turned off, it turns noise canceling down if it hears you talking to someone. It also turns it down when you hum along to a song, clear your throat, the wind blows, someone talks within 10 feet of you. (meaning, it's always turning it off, and seems like most people find it more annoying than useful)

also make sure you're not in adaptive mode, which also tries to figure out what you want to be able to hear from the outside world and will let in various amounts of outside noise, and it's usually wrong (at least for me)

I have mine setup to toggle between noise cancelling and transparency when I click the stem, and will just manually switch to transparency when I want to talk to someone. Although I'm still kinda in the habit of taking one out when I'm talking face to face with someone, as it pauses the music, and seems a bit less rude than having both in.

transparency mode will pull in some of the outside noise and amplify it into your ears. letting you hear outside sounds over your music.

There is an "off" setting that is now hidden by default. Off mode just disables noise canceling, letting any outside sound that leaks in be heard. it's less useful than transparency, as any outside sounds you might be trying to hear will still be reduced by the

you can also ask siri to "turn on noise cancellation" "turn on adaptive mode" or "turn on transparency" to switch between the modes.

to access any of the following settings, with your AirPods connected to your phone (easiest just to put at least one pod in your ear), go into the main settings app on your phone, and you'll see an AirPods entry.
  • The toggle for conversation awareness
  • the noise cancelling modes it toggles between when squeezing the stem
  • if the off mode is shown
  • adjustment for how much external noise to let in when using adaptive mode.

I cannot take a screen shot of something that does not exist. Volume switches, sliders, noise canceling all gone not on the page where it was when I bought the AirPod Pro 2. I realize I need to go to the nearest Apple Store and Talk face to face with someone there. If I can no longer use them as intended, and I made it clear to the sales person - I want to get a refund that I can apply to a real pair of hearing aids. Than you for your help, it is appreciated.

So this sounds like the AirPods are picking up and playing environmental sounds (random volume changes/background noise reduction), but they aren't connected to the phone (no controls appear on phone).

Check Settings > Bluetooth, and see if your AirPods are listed there. If they are listed there but it says Not Connected, put the AirPods in your ear, and tap the "Not Connected." It should connect, and the controls come back.

If your AirPods aren't listed under Settings > Bluetooth, you'll need to repair them to your phone. Post back here if you need help doing that.

There has been no such change with the Airpods. Likely this is a misunderstanding where the iPhone for some reason doesn't show what you expect to see and it can be returned to the way it was before. When you have the Airpods in your ear, do you see an entry for the Airpods in the Settings app on your iPhone? It will be near the top of the screen where it shows the Apple Account name.

Does content/music/phone call audio still go through the Airpods?

I am asking this because it sounds like the Airpods merely don't connect to your iPhone automatically at the moment and thus all the settings/sliders won't appear like they usually do.

In that case you can easily fix this from the control center (on your home screen swipe down from the top of the screen on the very right side where the battery icon is in the top right corner). In the control center do not tap on the volume icon/slider, instead find the little square that has media controls (play/pause and forward/backward) and in its top right corner tap the round icon. As long as your Airpods are in your ear they will appear here and you can select them.

At this point everything should go back to the way you expect it to. If it still doesn't work, try playing any audio on your iPhone which should now play through the Airpods and now everything can be selected again.

This is just a stab in the dark and you might have a different issue. In that case a screenshot would help. It doesn't matter that you cannot show us what's missing, simply take a screenshot of what is not looking like you expect it to, and we'll go from there.

The Airpods Pro 2 are decent for moderate hearing loss and if they already worked well for you until recently, then we can definitely help you restore them to the previous working state.

To make this very clear: In order to use the Airpods as hearing aids you need to have completed a hearing test with the Airpods and your iPhone. Once you have successfully completed one such test you can then enable the hearing aid functionality. If you have not done this then you can switch between some modes that might help you understand people a bit better in noisy surroundings but they actual hearing aid function will not be switched on.

It might be a good idea to ask an employee at the Apple Store to help you with activating this functionality. Depending on how busy they are they might not always have the time but obviously they should have an understanding of the products they sell and be able to walk you through it.

But you can take a screenshot of what should be there and isn’t - the absence of information can still be useful if used in the appropriate manner.

Another possibility that just occurred to me -- maybe you accidentally deleted the volume control or otherwise rearranged the Control Center. As the other poster suggested, do take a screenshot of the page where the controls used to be. Will be great help in identifying your problem.
