I’ve just got the APP3’s and am really disappointed in the sound, bass seems to be lacking which is odd as every review I’ve read says there’s too much bass.

I like EDM, especially oldschool UK rave, Jungle and D&B but with the APP3’s tracks are lacking significant bass and sound a little ‘empty’

I’ve tried the different eartip sizes and done the seal test, but it makes no difference. There’s noticeably less bassy than my Sony XM5’s, which themselves have never had the most prolific bass.

Does it sound like mine are faulty or do they ‘break in’ and get more bassy with time?

Bass is terrific on the APP 3.

I had exactly the same issue with mine and returned them, am back with my app2’s for now

Well don’t try the Pro 2s then. Cuz they have even less bass.

But bass is like color saturation on cameras. Different companies have different philosophies on whether to stay neutral or enhance.

Yeah I’m returning them, no matter what I try the bass is just lacking and tracks feel ‘empty’. I’ve tried every genre from Drum and Bass, to Dr Dre, to London Grammar, it’s really disappointing :(

Well that’s odd, the APP2’s had excellent bass when I tried them, the only reason I didn’t keep them is because they hurt my ears.

If using them with a Mac, make sure the Mac is set to use its own mic and not the APP. For some reason the sound suffers if using the APP mic.

I tried them with my iPhone. I've gone through literally every setting, tried every ear tip, tried rotating them to different positions in my ears, and factory resetting and setting up again. I made sure all EQ's were off too.

What I also noticed was that trebles were too "shrill" causing me ear fatigue after only about 20 mins. I'd be surprised if I was unlucky enough to have a faulty pair so I can only assume for whatever reason my ear shape doesn't suit them as I belive the response various from person to person 🤷🏻‍♂️

Interesting, considering that you have the opposite impression of almost everyone. The audiophiles who hate the new Pro 3s who say that they don’t like the increased bass and prefer the more neutral less bass heavy Pro 2s. And the normal people who love the new Pro 3s…cuz it has more bass than the Pro 2s.

Yeah it's an odd one considering all the reports to the contrary. Maybe if I ever go past a store I'll go in and try them just in case I did end up with a duff pair.

Picked up my AP3 yesterday to replace my AP2.

I don’t see any material difference in audio quality - but I am not that picky.
Fit is much improved, though it took me a while to choose the right size tips (one size down from what I used with AP2). I am not using “adaptive” but stay in ‘Noise cancellation” with “conversation awareness”. That works well for me.

Can’t judge ANC yet, but have some air travel coming up. My biggest gripe with AP2 - other than the poor fit- was the lack of background noise filtering when on calls for the OTHER PARTY, i.e. people used to complain about the loud background noises that got filtered out for me but not for them apparently. Looking forward to test that out.

So far, they are a keeper.

you should do the tip for test and ensure a good seal. If I go down even one size in ear tips I’ll get no bass because the tips don’t seal to the ear.
