Airpod release date question

I realize it's not the end of October yet but why is it we've heard so little about the release of the Apple Airpods? Are they still set for release at the end of this month? Surprisingly little on the internet regarding their status.

I'm guessing the release date has been extended but of course there'll be ready before Christmas.

The AirPods will be released on 28OCTOBER2016

Well, I guess I was right after all! It'll be interesting to see how long this takes. Nothing like announcing a new product before it's actually ready. Not good for credibility. What's wrong with just being honest during these product rollouts?
