Just three days after their official launch, Apple's AirPods 4 earbuds both with and without Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) have received their first discounts at Amazon, knocking $10 off their regular prices. The higher-tier model with ANC is down to $169.00, while the cheaper model without ANC is now available for $118.00.

In addition to ANC-related features like Adaptive Audio, Transparency, and Conversation Awareness, the higher-tier AirPods 4 also add wireless charging capabilities and a speaker for Find My to the AirPods case.

The two models of the AirPods 4 launched this month as successors to the AirPods 2 and AirPods 3, offering a more comfortable fit, an H2 chip supporting improved audio capabilities, dust resistance, and more.

Amazon also still has the AirPods Pro 2 at a heavily discounted price of $189.99, but if you prefer the open-ear design of the regular AirPods, this is your first opportunity to save a few dollars. The higher-tier model represents the first time ANC has been offered outside of the AirPods Pro and AirPods Max options, making them an appealing option for some customers.

Update 5:10 pm: In addition to the higher-tier model, Amazon has now also discounted the lower-tier AirPods 4 model.

How do they compare to AirPods 2? I have the AirPods 2 pro but I don't find them as comfortable as the AirPods 2.

I’ve had every generation of AirPods. These are the first ones that feel weird in my ears. Did they change the shape for the purpose of change?

I dont think just for change sake. Airpods3 were unpopular because they fit fewer peoples ears than 1 and 2.

4 strikes me as a middle ground between the two shape wise, but still similar to 3.

Bit annoying as I ordered the ANC AirPods 4 (two sets for me, wifey) last week on preorder, and they're not even here till tomorrow and already $10 off per set. Such is life.

If you liked the AirPods 2 then you should like the AirPods 4 even more. The sound quality is better and the cans are narrower vs the AP2. I find the AP4 stay in my ear a lot better. I'm also a big fan of spatial audio and head tracking on the AP4. They are a nice upgrade and i'm looking forward to the rumored AirPods Pro 3.

The 4 are way more comfortable than the 3 for me. Everyone should know if you wait (a few days) all AirPods go on sale pretty fast on Amazon and elsewhere but never from Apple (eg. AirPods Pro 2 around $189 pretty much everywhere now but always $249 from Apple). I had some bb certificates anyway so I got them there.

I bought these on Sunday when walking past an Apple Store. I wasn't planning to, as I have more AirPods of various types than you can throw a stick at. I was suspicious and expecting to return them, but I am completely sold! If it helps others decide, the version 1 and 2 fitted me fine. 3 was a bit of a struggle but I can get on with them OK with the occasional fall out (pun sort of intended...) The APP2s are similar to the 3 in terms of fit, but I get silicon tip fatigue quite quickly (2 hours).

Well, I found the ANC 4s remarkable. The fit is almost perfect (not quite as good as version 2, but good... one loosened during a meal with lots of chewing, but it took a while for that to happen, and I had had them in for around 4 hours in total by then). The ANC is remarkable for no tips. It may be that the fit in my ears is snug and "just right" but I would estimate the ANC is 2/3 as good as the APP2 and for me, that is good enough. On a loud subway train I could still play podcasts at sensible volume levels and hear it very clearly. I resent the lack of volume control in the stems, but otherwise I find these perfect for my needs.

Why oh why only white? My apologies to all AP users, but when i see those little white things hanging off your ears I think 'it's the dork look' I'm sure this is 100% an unwarranted thought, but if Apple made them in grey or some subtle shade, I'd like a pair myself.

They changed them because a lot of us couldn't stand the feeling of the Airpods 3

Honestly, Apple needs to make about 3 different size/shape variations of the otherwise same product

I wish they'd stop trying to make "one size fits all" -- it will never work

It's probably because Apple spent so much money in advertising the original EarPods followed by the original AirPods which were white. White tends to be a color that people associate with Apple. And if color earbuds is what people want, they will upsell you on the AirPods Max or Beats

I picked a set up yesterday and they are amazing. If you are not a fan of the tips for the pros, this feel great. My favorite have always been the original ap2s long stem as I can simply throw them in any go. No adjusting or anything. These have a similar asetheic. I pop them in and now I can block out 85% annoying sounds and hear notes rarely heard on anything but the pros/max version.

Unfortunately, reviewers online said that the AirPods 4 does not seal off the audio being played, so others can still hear your audio. That's why I'm glad I got the Beats Studio Buds+, which has real sealing of audio so others normally can't hear it and decent ANC. Or just a little more, get a real AirPods Pro.

How would they?

It's an open design, as non Pro AirPods have always been!

That is the whole point here

A lot of us really don't love ear plug design AirPods, or we'd all just use AirPods Pro all the time

(or we have usage contexts where naturally hearing our surroundings is critical .. and now we can add some ANC to that situation, which is awesome)

got a price match with Target, they gave me an extra $10 off because my '15% off 1 item in store or online' coupon didn't work with Apple accessories and they made a one time exception (I don't shop at Target often at all, so they throw stuff at me on the Circle coupon offers occasionally) and used my red card for that built in 5% :D

Couldn't resist as an AirPods addict checking in: APP2 and AirPods 3 ..I technically still have 1's as well but they dont really work the battery is toast on one of them. Will be nice to have USB-C harmony even though I mostly charge my other AirPods wirelessly a lot of the times.

Can be use the ANC function without playing tracks?

Bestbuy...
AP4 $180
APP2 $190, currently on sale.
For those who's ears can't take the AP model because it keeps falling off, the APP2 is a good deal.
A better deal if you're a Costco member as it's $190 Including Applecare+.
Too bad one can't just try the AP4 at a store, except at Apple, to see if it fits your ears but have to buy to try it first. Check the return policy to see how many days you have to return it if it does Not fit your ears.

Be Very weary buying some electronic items at Amazon because of Known fake items and customers doing a switcheroo on return items, which are some Not checked by Amazon but then resold as Used.
