AirPods dropping out when MBP connected to Studio Display

I have a strange issue where the sound in my APP2's constantly drops out - but only when connected to my 14" MacBook Pro and only when it is connected to the Studio Display.

If I disconnect the MacBook from the ASD - no issues. If I connect the APP to the iPad next to it - no issues.

And btw, the problem when connected to the ASD occurs whether I have the MBP open or closed.

Any ideas?
