Yeah, I finally caved and spent mucho dinero on a set of these 'new' Apple cans. Replaced a pair of trustworthy Bose QC35's that are slowly falling apart. The MAX's were purchased solely for use with an ATV4K (2021) HDMI'd to an LG Oled. No music. Two questions after about a week's use:
1) the noise control button is said to switch from full noise cancelling to no noise cancelling to something called transparency mode. Three modes Each push results in a slightly different 'ping' sound. But for the life of me, I can't tell any difference between turning noise cancelling off and the transparency mode. Anyone?
2) the digital crown -- I don't use an Apple watch, so comparing the digital crown twisty thing to a smaller one on an Apple watch is a non sequitur for me. It works for volume control. Tapping it does pause and restart the audio/video on the ATV, BUT when tapping twice or thrice it does not work for skipping forward or backward. Tested multiple time on several streaming apps - no workee. I'm beginning to suspect that skipping forward and backward only works with 'music' and not television. I don't use 'music', so I cannot test. Anyone?

Transparency is SUPER easy to tell. If you can hear the surrounding world, transparency is on. I however struggle with the difference between noise cancelling and off. They block a lot of sound passively. I turn on noice cancelling when the vacuum cleaner is on and it doesn't really block any more sound than passive I feel, but it changes the pitch to be more comfortable to me. You can change the behaviour of the button in the AirPods' bluetooth settings btw. Disable/enable each of these modes from toggling with the button click, if you find any of them redundant. You can also change Digital Crown directionality.

2)
I can at least say it works with the Music app(s across all Apple devices)
