Apple's high-end AirPods Max headphones have dropped to a new record low price today on Amazon, available for $382.70 in Pink, down from $549.00. This deal is only available in the Pink colorway right now, and it beats the Prime Day price by about $12.

Prime members can get the AirPods Max delivered as soon as July 24, while most other customers can expect a delivery by this Sunday, July 28. AirPods deals were very popular last week during Prime Day, but now the AirPods Max is the only model with a deal that beats those prices, although you can find some solid second-best prices on AirPods 2 and AirPods Pro 2 on Amazon this week.

Head to our full Deals Roundup to get caught up with all of the latest deals and discounts that we've been tracking over the past week.

Update: This deal has expired.

I’m curious what the real differences are. I haven’t done a spec comparison yet, but my kids want the max and I refuse to buy them at this point to have them be replaced with a newer chip and usb c in a couple months.

I extensively researched higher end over the ear headphones last year so I can speak to some of the differences.

Compared to the AirPods Max, the Beats Studio Pro have flimsier build quality, poor noise cancellation, and lesser sound quality.

Beats headphones are somewhat notorious for being flimsy and creaky, and often have failures where the headbands slide or fold. It's also common for the ear cup material to degrade and unlike other models the ear cups can't be replaced. AirPods Max are made out of aluminum with a mesh headband and user replaceable mesh ear cups.

Active noise cancellation is also rated as significantly less effective than the AirPods Max. The APMs are rated among the Sony WH-1000xM5 and Bose QuietComfort as having among the best ANC of any over ear headphones.

Sound quality is a bit more subjective but just about every reviewer agrees the sound quality is good, and arguably better and more balanced than previous Beats offerings (which tended to over-emphasize bass), but that again it's not to the same level as the APM, Sonys, Bose, or the Sennheiser Momentum 4.

I actually wound up going with the Sennheiser as ANC wasn't as important a feature to me and they were rated as edging out both the APMs and Sonys for better sound quality. I've been incredibly happy with them.

Still, at $180 when they're routinely on sale the Beats are a great deal and solid headphones, they're just not at the same level as other top level offerings from competing manufacturers in the $350+ class.

Bose QC Ultra are cheaper and better, also Max are known to die in mid-high humidity places. (I live close to lake and got mine replaced 3 times <humidity around 65% inside most of the time> now they are out of guarantee i just use Bose or if you want something cheeper Sony)

I can’t help but think there are whispers of a new AirPods Max coming (possibly in the fall) to explain why retailers are suddenly marking these down so much. It feels like they are clearing out inventory.

Is it true that there are build issues with this? I read that the ribbon cable connecting the drivers tends to wear from the ear cups being swiveled?

Feels like we really need a gen2 with some hardware revisions.

APP Gen 2 are better at ANC the reviews say. No USB C, And the sound quality not being that much better than APP2... I wouldn't spend more than $149 on a new set of APM personally.

Apple, please, we're all desperate for a much improved gen 2.

This just suggests to me that we will see a minimally updated version alongside phones and watches in September. Maybe even a quiet USB-C shift.

Ah yes, of course. Apple is still selling the ancient AirPods Max. Lol. I miss the golden era of Apple, when innovation and cutting-edge technology were at their peak.

Just for fun what is ancient about them? They still have one of the best noise canceling in the industry. The sound quality is good enough, the batter life is good enough. Switching between multiple apple devices works pretty good.

Version 2.0 honestly would need better ANC, better sound, lossless better battery. Maybe an on/off switch etc. This is not a reinventing the wheel situation, just a a gradual evolution.

I really like my AirPods Max, but they've always been way over priced.

No one should pay this much for older tech. Now that I also have the AirPods Pro 2, the difference in device switching and noise cancellation and everything else are very noticeable when I switch back and forth. You can really notice the different generations of this tech.

I own a pair of these I cannot in good conscience recommend them. They sound good but even in the hideous case my battery is constantly dead. This thing needs an off switch like my olderXM 3’s have.

They’re almost 4 years old! Lol. It's almost absurd that in our rapidly advancing technological era, the AirPods Max, at a venerable four years old (!), now seem like relics from a bygone age.

No one is clamoring for new colors. Instead, we yearn for wired lossless options and superior alternatives.

Meh. I'll stick with my Plantronics. It was cheap, has decent sound quality, and the battery will last weeks if I'm not using it.

Wired would obviously be better, but Apple still doesn't have the courage to put a headphone jack back in the iPhone.

There's a lot of opinions here from people who don't own or use these. Other than being overpriced (like pretty much everything Apple makes) these remain an excellent product. Noise canceling, Spatial Audio and transparency modes are magical and since I only use them at home, durability hasn't been an issue.

I was happy to get them at $429, under $400 is great.

For a Gen2 version, I'd like:

- better portability - the 'bra' style case is silly - do better Apple!
- USB-C
- a more pliant cup that creates a better seal when I lean against an airline seat
- Less weight - for me the lighter the better with headphones
- Is an on/off switch too much to ask for?

I agree with you overall and use my APMs for Apple TV a fair bit

Definitely overpriced though

If Apple were a normal company that adjusted prices, I think these would be well sub $300 at this point

To top heavy, to non-portable … sound was good but those 2 made them a no go for me

Went with much cheaper refurbished Beats Studio
