I came across a shop selling replacement headbands for the Max, en took a chance to order them.

At first glance, this looks like an OEM Apple Headband, it feels exactly the same (rubber layer), and you get a SIM-eject tool to remove the ear cups.

The connections and mesh also seem exactly the same. The headband clicks firmly into place after installation, like the original, only sliding it in - out is a little less stiff than the original, but that could be the same with the new Airpods Max, mine is the one from day 1.

On the head it feels fine, I can't say for sure if the flexibility of the original and the new one are the same, mine is completely stretched.
I can't say anything about long-term quality/use yet, and I hope these will last a while :)

I certainly think this is a better alternative than a silicone filling, but it is more expensive at € 130. / $ 150
