Is it OK to always have my Airpods Max almost always connected via its USB-C charging cable?

I mean, it doesn't un pair when you charge them, but probably yes.

The battery life could degrade if it's always plugged in.

Probably depends on the brick used...some are smart and will quit charging when max capacity is reached. Some will keep "charging" regardless. The latter may end up impacting battery life long term.
