AirPods Microphone Not That Good?

Anyone else struggling to get accurate dictation working using the AirPods? The dictation using the built in Watch microphone is spot on and every time I dictate using the AirPods it is more trouble than its worth more often than not (either with 1 or 2 pods in my ears).

Anyone else having this issue? Any fixes? I’ve reset the AirPods a few times at this point.
