I use my airpods 2 with my iPhone 7, iPad 2, etc. However, when I use them with my older iPod Touch (iOS ver 6.1.6), I'm running into issues. Typically I can listen to a song from a playlist, but the next song does not play over my AirPods. My recourse is to press the little Bluetooth icon in the bottom right corner of the playback screen and choose the iPod Touch-- and hear the song playing from the Touch-- and then choose AirPods. The song will then be heard over the AirPods. But when when that song ends, I have to repeat the same process and for every subsequent song. I don't have any other devices around me (like my iPhone) so I don't think the AirPods are confused between devices.

Also I don't think its a connection issue, per the pairing suggestion. They "see" each other but I have to disconnect and then reconnect to hear only hear one song. But if I want to restart the song or jump to
another song, it doesn't work again. And won't work until disconnect/reconnect.
I have tried to rebooting the ipod and the airpods, reset them and pair them but the problem still
remain.

I have a Bose bluetooth soundlink that works very well wit the same ipod touch and also other bluetoot headphones do not have the problem. It happens only with airpods
Maybe it's an iOS thing? Is there a solution?

Apple state iPod touch 7 (which runs the required iOS 13.2 and later) as the only supported iPod model in the specs for the pro.
