I just got the AirPods Pro 2 for my birthday, replacing my 2nd Gen (non pro) AirPods. I'm an avid runner, and couldn't wait to try out the new Pros while running with just my Apple Watch Series 8. To my unpleasant surprise, the skip track gesture is just plain awful. Perhaps it's just me, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to make this work while running. Sure, performing this gesture while sitting down in my office chair is a breeze, but while running it's downright impossible.

Am I crazy or does everyone else feel the same way? The non Pro AirPod double tap with one finger is way easier and more intuitive to use - Apple really screwed this up on the Pros.

Might be easier to just use the watch to skip tracks while running.

Unfortunately I had to resort to this, but it throws off my running stride. It’s just disappointing how difficult it is compared to my older AirPods.

Consider the Beats Fit Pro, which is what I use. All the same Apple integration and features, pretty much.
The only negative is wind noise, which is a pretty big one, actually.

Thanks. Is the gesture easier?

"hey siri, next track"

no hands needed, hopefully you've got some breath left after running though.

The outer face of the BFP is basically a big button, so you click or double-click it. Can do it with gloves on.
On the other hand, there is no easy way to change volume directly on the BFP

EDIT: Correction - you can set it up so "press and hold" changes volume

I suggest get a pair of BFP while you are still in return period for APP, try them both, and return the one you like least. (What I did)

I got used to the stem press pretty quickly when I got the v1 Pros at release.

Adapting to change can be hard at first, especially when muscle memory is involved, but you’ll get it eventually.
