AirPods Pro 2 unusual case sound

Every time I close my AirPods Pro 2 (lightning version) and put them back in the case, and after about 10 seconds it makes this sound. It used to not do this. Even when case sounds are off in the settings app, it still does this. I've reset them and it hasn't helped. The sound comes from the buds themselves instead of the case. Any tips?
