I've been trying to use precision finding with my AirPods Pro 3, and I haven't been able to get it to work with the case closed. My current setup is:

  • iPhone 15 Pro on iOS 26.0.1
  • AirPods Pro 3 on 8A358
  • Various other Bluetooth devices
I've had and used precision finding on my AirPods Pro 2 periodically as they sometimes slip out of my pocket when I lie down to read to my kids, and I don't want to wake them up if they fall out of my pocket while reading. After adding my AirPods Pro 3 to my iPhone, both the AirPods Pro 3 and AirPods Pro 2 cases state Connected Signal is weak. Try moving to a different location. This is despite them being right next to my phone.

The individual earbuds still work with find my, but the cases don't seem to work anymore.

So far I've tried:
- Delete from find my
- Double-tap the front in the sequence to reset the AirPods
- restart my iPhone
- Open the case and re-pair the AirPods
- Removing my iPhone case

The first time I tried this, precision Find My worked for about an hour before it stopped working again.

Are there any things that I could try to solve this issue?
