Many earbuds on the market have a feature where they automatically power off after being out of your ears for a while and not placed in the case. Unfortunately, AirPods don’t offer this. I understand that in order to use the Find My app, the AirPods need to stay on and connected, but I wish Apple could implement an ultra battery-saving mode. Ideally, AirPods would remain in low-power standby and only fully power on when Find My is actively used.
One feature I do like is that music automatically stops when you fall asleep. I often sleep with my AirPods in, and sometimes I forget to set a timer. Thankfully, I use YouTube Music, which lets me set a sleep timer directly in the app—unlike Apple Music. That’s actually one of the main reasons I haven’t switched to Apple Music.
