Apple's manufacturing partner Foxconn plans to begin assembling AirPods at its factory in Hyderabad, India in April, the Press Trust of India said today.

The report did not indicate which AirPods models will be manufactured in India, but it did say that all units produced will be exported to other countries.

In 2023, Foxconn agreed to start assembling AirPods in India, and it is now ready to start.

AirPods production in India will further diversify Apple's supply chain. The company and its manufacturing partners have been gradually assembling more products in countries such as India and Vietnam in recent years, including select iPhone and Mac models.

Even with the push into additional countries, Apple still heavily relies on China and Taiwan for manufacturing.

I love AirPods. I have owned 3 pairs of them since 2018. But the batteries dying after 2-3 years is why I have I have gotten the wired EarPods. And lightning & USB C adapters. I don’t have to deal with batteries dying & wearing out. Plus the microphones on EarPods are amazing. Plus they have Lossless support.

If I was going to get some AirPods, I would get them now :).

Nothing wrong with India but any new manufacturing is bound to have many issues.
Good point, the iPhones produced in India have higher rejection rates. But even though more units may be rejected, they only ship what passes the quality inspections. I guess it’ll be easier for defects to slip through the cracks though.

How are EarPods compared to the first gen Pros? That’s what I use and am getting a bit tired of Bluetooth’s connection issues.

I'm disappointed w the AirPods 4 ANC. in a quiet room w background fan noise the ANC amplifies the sound and I'm left hearing a loud hissing sound. AirPods Pro 2 result in a nice quiet sound in the same room.

Plus the fit on the AirPods 4 vs 3 is a downgrade for me. The bulbous shape of the 3 fit better, with the 4 I have to keep adjusting them as they are smaller and move more, loosening the fit and the ANC spazzing out.

Also the battery life is really poor. My 3.5 year old AirPods 3 battery still lasts longer than my brand new 4 ANC.
Do better Tim.

I had problems with 1st Generation. They had crackling noise and had them replaced 3 times! Airpods pro 2, I have two pairs. One pair doesn’t do good job on transparent mode ( no guarantees left as the shop I bought from has gone bankrupt and I don’t have the receipt). The second one, left EarPod’s clicking has become harder to press.
No issues on connecting to devices but sometimes when I make a call or receiving, it can make strange sounds. On such occasions, I just remove it and place it in the case for a second, then it works fine.

Great to see production expanding in India. Don't think there will be reduction in prices for the local market after production begins. Production might begin with AirPods 4 and should slowly cover all the models.

Haven't heard any rumors about the AirPods Pro 3 except adding a heartrate sensor or camera. Will the new one be released this year?

At least you had yours replaced, mine developed the crackling exactly 3 years after purchase, and they refused to replace the affected earbud even though it was part of the faulty manufactured ones. I'm sure I could have really pushed them on replacing it if I sent a number of legal emails etc. but you'd think Apple's customer service used to be better than this.

I mean you do realize that earbuds that have seal around like AirPods Pro 2 and go deeper in ear obviously seal the ear better and results in much more better noise blocking just passive let alone anc also you saying your AirPods 3 are lasting more than AirPods 4 that’s probably because you using anc on your AirPods and hence they drain faster.

They obviously don't have noise isolation. But compared to the 4th Gen AirPods they are excellent. I love the audio from my EarPods. I listen to iTunes AAC 256kbps & Spotify OGG Vorbis 320kbps. They sound very nice

I was able to replace my APP 1 three times through a local Apple reseller. However, on the fourth attempt, they informed me that the replacement order wasn’t going through because Apple was not accepting it. I contacted Apple Support and explained that I couldn’t process the replacement through the reseller due to a system issue.
After a few calls, Apple Support assured me they would handle it directly. I called on a Monday, and by Tuesday, UPS arrived at my doorstep. I didn’t even need to pack the AirPods—the driver took care of everything. By Wednesday, I received a notification that a shipment was on the way, and on Thursday, UPS delivered the replacement AirPods.
Since I had already purchased APP 2 when the crackling became unbearable, I gave the APP 1 to my wife. She hardly uses them, so I assume they still work fine.
