I noticed that by default airport and bluetooth are turned on when the Mac is first set up. What is to keep my neighbor or a passerbyer from accessing my computer and putting something on it since these 2 options are on by default?

airpot my be on though there is not network created and from memory filesharing/internest sharing is turned off by default.

So when I was setting up my computer and it listed available wireless connections there would be no way someone could have connected to my computer? Even when airport is listed as on when on the desktop there's no way someone else could connect to my computer?

As far as I understand, if you're not on a network, no one should be able to connect to you.
