m,y friend was given a mac. its 1.25 ghz. Power PC G4 250 56 mb
OSX 10.3.9

It has no wireless internet ... But! I have 2 old G4 laptops with wireless cards
in them.... Can I take the card out of the laptop and put it into his desk top?

Any helpers THANK YOU!

What Mac is it? Its not likely if its less than an 400MHz G4.

What AirPort capabilities are provided by the Power Mac G4 models? How do you install an AirPort module? Can you add 802.11n?
The early PCI-based models -- the Power Mac G4 350 (PCI) and 400 (PCI) -- do not support an AirPort card. All other Power Mac G4 models support at least original AirPort (802.11b) while the "Firewire 800" series -- the Power Mac G4 1.0 (FW 800), 1.25 DP (FW 800), and 1.42 DP (FW 800) -- support AirPort Extreme (802.11b/g).

Look up the specs but some g4's took the original Airport, some took the Airport Extreme card. Different cards, check the specs.

please excuse ignorance but how do I do that! ?
its one of the more recent models it is a flat screen with keybord. Not the type with the dome body

Like this one?

If so, then the Airport card should work. Look up the models on www.everymac.com to see which one it is and whether it can take an Airport (802.11b) or Airport Extreme (802.11b/g) card.

Oddly enough, the G4s were the dome body ones so its hard to tell which one you are talking about. It should also tell you what type of Mac it is if click on :apple:->About this Mac...->More info...
