I've got a Mac Pro from August 2007, running OS X 10.4.11, and my airport card has been dying a slow death.
Over the last couple of months, I've been getting a lot of signal dropout. And now this weekend, it's been cutting out entirely.
My wireless router is a Linksys WRT54G. When I boot up my Mac, it connects to the router at 100% signal strength. Within 60 seconds, that falls to maybe 30%, and the connection becomes really iffy. I haven't changed any hardware, or any equipment configurations and my router firmware is up to date.
I know it's not the router giving off a weak signal, as I've got four other wi-fi enabled devices connected, and everything else works just fine. My laptop even gets a full signal when I'm sitting right next to my Mac Pro.
What can I do to troubleshoot this? Am I stuck with schlepping back to the genius bar for a new airport? Any thoughts, anyone?
Jeff
