I have a wirless router..which mean its has both Ethernet and Wi Fi 802.11b and airport laptop.

Just wondering, Can I disable my airport (wifi) if I direct plug an Ethernet into the laptop.. (because Ethernet is "safer" than wireless when doing online shopping)

Yes. Just go up to your menu bar's AirPort icon and select the "Turn AirPort Off" option. Then, plug your ethernet in. If you have DHCP enabled on your Ethernet router, you shouldn't have to do anything else.

Absolutely.

In OSX go to your airport status in the menu bar and then select airport off.

Then proceed to system preferences, then select network, pick ethernet from the pull down menu with "show:" eside it and make sure your ethernet is configured for your router.

I have never really bothered with OS9 but I imagine the process wouldn't be all that different.

Happy christmas shopping.

(clearly I need to improve my typing speed)
