Can other simultaneous dual band routers like the Linksys WRT600N (and newer WRT610N) name both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz network with the same name, and have the Apple hardware that supports 802.11n running the AirPort Client Update 2009-001(Intel based MB, MBP, etc.) automatically choose which network to join based on quality of the signal and the speed that's available (resulting in the same roaming capability of the new Airport Extreme Base station)?

Does this auto-choosing functionality reside solely in the Apple computer hardware, or is there some sort of secret hand-shaking that occurs between the new AEBS and the Apple computers to permit this auto roaming and band switching capability?
