Airport connected but not working

Hi.

I inserted my Airport (classic) Card int it's slot. The antenna is connected, everything seems to be connected, but it doesn't work. There is no signal on the menu bar, nothing. I don't need it on Mac OS (I'm using an Asus adapter whch works perfectly well), but I would like to use it on Linux (Yellow Dog) which I have installed on a second hard drive.

Any ideas why it doesn't work?
