Which makes for a better home server: an airport disk connected to an AEBS or a dedicated machine like a mac mini connected to the AEBS?

i'm trying to set up a way to connect to my files from any network and right now i have the first solution but it's very slow and times out a lot. I don't need a fancy server just something that can hold my files and have it accessible over the internet. if I have a dedicated machine, will my connection be faster or is that solely a factor of the ISP?

If the speed of the connection is slower than the HD (which invariably it is) then no, I would say a dedicated server would make no difference at all.

I have an AEBS connected to a 500GB LaCie Mini Hub and it works perfectly (the Airport even sits snuggly on top) the 2 Macs in the office share it using the Airport as an Ethernet hub and a MBP has wireless access.

Hope this helps :)
