I have a Dell printer connected to my airport express and have always been able to print wirelessly to my printer even when my MacBook and I are typing away in another room in the house.

Now I'm wondering If both my iPad and ipod touch will be able to do the same....

......?

Not until Dell release an AirPrint compatible firmware. The other option is to print through your Mac as a shared printer, but you'll need third party software or a hack to enable it

Here's the fix for AirPrint. Confirmed working on 10.6.5.

  1. Download the file at the following link: http://cl.ly/3BmD
  2. Unpackage the .zip to reveal a folder with some codesheets
  3. Drag the codesheets to their places using the instructions in the readme. You will need an administrator's password for this step.
  4. Go into System Preferences -> Print & Fax
  5. Remove from the list any printers you want to use on AirPrint.
  6. Restart your Mac.
  7. Go back into System Preferences and re-add any printers you want to use with AirPrint.
  8. Test, verify here, and troubleshoot with me if you need to.
