Airport Express and sound

Long story short, the sound on my powerbook recently stopped working and after taking it into the apple store they told me that I need to pay $350 to get it fixed.

My question is, does the sound output on Airport Express only work for iTunes, or will it work for all sound output, ie DVD's, games, OS?

Only for iTunes, but try a forum search, it seems like there may be a hack to send all audio through the AirPort Express... the drawback is that theres a one half to 2 second delay so system sounds are really behind... doesn't really matter when you're listening to music.
