Airport Express and Transmit rate

Hello!

So I was thinking there was a way to speed up our wireless connection...

Started with a wireless router - Actiontec 1000 from telus. Max transmit rate 130. Speedtest.net 14.5mbps and 1mbps.

Not bad pretty quick but I was thinking can't my AP Express do 300?

So I put the AP Express wired off the the router and boom - Transmit rate of 300 consistently!

Great right?

Well speedtest.net is 14.9mpbs a 1mbps...

Anyway to get it bumped up?

Realization - What if ~14.5 is as fast as it is going to get and a 130 transmit rate can handle that... so the 300 isn't really speeding it up?

Help me understand.

You are not going to get an improvement in your internet bandwidth. Your internal bandwidth has probably increased. Test by copying a file between two computers on the local network.

Don't forget the Express has a 100 megabit Ethernet port, not the faster 1 gigabit port.
