Airport Express Base station....

Does a mac computer have to have an airport card to connect to the Airport Express base station?

Realistically it needs an AirPort card (Express or regular depending on the Mac) however you can get it working with a third party card (assuming you have an available slot) or a USB dongle, but then you have to find drivers. For most generic brand cards/dongles, OSX has no drivers since most Macs just use AirPort.
