airport express crashing network

My airport express (802.11n) is starting to make my network unresponsive. It is extending that of an airport extreme (also n), and after a few minutes, none of my computers or devices will be able to access anything online via wifi. If I unplug the airport express, everything works fine. What I find strange is that I can still stream music via AirTunes, but nothing else will work on the wireless network. This came at a perfect time, right when I was getting ready to sell it...

Is this a common problem and/or is there any way to fix it?

Odd that you are still able to stream.

Try changing the wireless channel (if neighbours have wireless routers on the same channel, it'll cause interference and possible drop outs).
