I have just changed my router to an Airport Express. Two Macs (and a load of other stuff) connect via a network switch (8 way 10/100/1000). It is all sort of OK, but when the Macs wake up from sleep mode, they take about 5 seconds to connect to the internet. Once connected all is fine until they next go to sleep. If I use wifi rather than the wired LAN it is near instantaneous connect after wake up. I've tried two different network switches - no difference. My previous router was only 10/100. Is this something to do with autonegotiation? Can I speed it up by changing settings?
Thanks for any help/ideas. Keith

Just some random ideas here, I don't sleep my Macs so haven't run into this...

Watch the link lights on your switch. If the link lights don't come on until the mac is more or less online, then it's an issue with the Mac negotiating a link to the switch. If the link lights are on well before the mac is online, then it's more likely a DHCP issue getting an IP address.
