I know, I'm not supposed to use channels 140-161 over here in europe.
what I'm trying to achieve: forcing the AirPort Express to use the channels
in the UNII-2 EXT and UNII-3 bands. I managed to enforce channels 100-140.
using the AirPort Utility I exported the config and afterwards edited it
manually (TextEdit will do, PlistEdit Pro is more elegant though).
setting for the 5.0 GHz channel can be found here: /Root/WiFi/radios/1/raCh/
import the config using the AirPort Utility and voila, done. but this works only
up to channel 140. if I set a higher channel, the AirPort switches to auto
and it runs on channel 108. I suspect this is due to the region setting. I'm
pretty sure that I also changed all the relevant values, but the AirPort still
says "Switzerland" after importing the edited config file.
is anybody (U.S. residents) willing to test if it is possible to force the
AirPort to run on channels 149-161?
