My Airport Extreme Base Station said there was a firmware update 7.5.2 to download. I let it do it. After the update had been completed and the Airport came back on my PowerBook G4 15" 1.67GHz deep crashed (grey screen, "Press and hold power button to restart" in multiple languages message).
I restarted. But since then both that PowerBook G4 and another just like it have been crashing several times a day. Previous to this both machines were stable. No other changes were made to either machine. Our MacBookPro is not experiencing this crash.
Watching the activity monitor / menumeters I see increased processor activity. Monitoring the temperature I see that the computers are running hotter.
Keeping Airport turned off on either of the PowerBook G4's keeps them from crashing. Turning it back on and they'll crash at some point.
The most consistent case of crashing is when I sync my iPodTouch. It isn't using any network activity (downloading of App updates went fine) but every time the PowerBook G4 syncs with the iPodTouch it crashes after uploading App updates to the iPodTouch for a while.
I am running Mac OS X 10.4.11 with everything up-to-date.
