Can I use an airport express to connect to my speakers to do airplay and use it as a router at the same time?

I am planning on getting two AX because I have two sets of speakers. Can one be used as a router and for airplay while the other only works for airplay?

Yes you can! I have a similar set up where I have the first AE connected to my modem which is then used to supply my wireless network and to power some airplay speakers in the study! Then the second AE is used to extend the network which gives me better wireless coverage downstairs and it allows me to AirPlay music to the Bose system in the kitchen!

HTH :D

Great thanks I just realized regarless I need another router

My modem is in the basement

one AX connected to the Micro-system in the living room
Possibly one AX connected to the receiver in the basement which is no where near the modem

So I need 2 AX and a router with USB to connect drive for TM Backups.

I guess the 2 AX can also extend the coverage throughout the House.
