I'm not sure if this is the right place for this thread, but I need help and this was my best guess as to where to put it.

My old linksys router just died, so I finally had a reason to get an Airport Express. Problem is, we have a computer that doesn't have a wireless card installed. So, what I thought I'd do (and couldn't think of any reason why it wouldn't work) was to go from my modem to an ethernet hub and then split the connection between the wired computer and the Airport Express. Sounds good, right?

Well, the internet connection doesn't seem to be sent out to both places. The ports are labeled "1, 2, 3, and 4" and, if you look at it like a ranking system, whichever is given a higher ranking (if 1 and 2 are being used, 1 gets priority) and whichever is given a lower ranking doesn't get a connection.

This seems really odd to me because, as I understand it, an ethernet hub is supposed to split the connection, not prioritize it. The wired computer is running XP (it's not mine so I have no say in that lol) and when it's not given priority, it won't renew an IP address.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
