How can I measure the throughput of a wireless connection?

I don't think my Airport Express is working as well as my old Netgear 802.11g router and I'd like to measure the bitrate to confirm.

I have been trying just copying large files from another computer and counting the seconds, but I am wondering if there is an application available that does this sort of thing.

When I use this method I measure about 22 megabits/sec on the Netgear (g) and about 19 megabits/sec on the Airport Express in 2.4GHz n mode. It is even less in 5 GHz.

Thanks,
Rich
