I persuaded my parents to get a mac and they duly bought a MBP. I have them my old Belkin ADSL wireless router that stubbornly wouldn't work. My PB worked fine with it and my Toshiba laptop works fine but the MBP keeps coming up with an error joining wireless network. I was convinced there was something wrong with the Airport card until my Dad took it to his office and it worked fine on their visitors network.

Now, my Dad has gone out and bought an AE but of course he still can't get it work as his ISP only provided a USB router.

Would do suggest I tell him to do. Some ISP's provide ethernet router but I'm not sure Pipex do, it doesn't mention in on their site.

Can I use the existing Belkin as the router and use the AE just as the wireless access point.

Confused.
