My girlfriend is going to Uni this year and she rented a small student's appartment.

Her internet access is: an ethernet cable coming out of the wall.
The modem cannot be accessed by her because it is property of the landlord.

I was wondering if this was possible:

Plug the ethernet cable into an AirPort Express.
Plug a USB printer into the AirPort Express.
Plug speakers into the AirPort Express.

And have everything wireless?

Another thing ... When installing the AirPort Express (or whatever you need to do), are you able to configure MAC security settings so only HER MacBook and iPod Touch can access the wireless internet?

Thanks in advance

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5C1 Safari/525.20)

You should be able to do all of that. I'd start by resetting the AP Express to factory settings before plugging it in. After that, go through the setup utility as normal. Good luck.

also use a 10 digit or so random WPA key. (uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and no words) for example "WjTcDh1GkK" The airport utility can generate one for you

don't use WEP it can be cracked easily.

with no security, and only a mac filter, your wireless data can still be read if someone really wants to.

and make sure she sets it to "share a public IP" it will keep the other people that share the same connection from seeing/accessing her laptop
