Hello,
I have an Airport Express that turns itself off randomly. Sometimes it works fine for a day or sometimes just an hour and then it shuts itself off. A hardware reset will get it working again until it decides to shut off again. Anyone else had this problem?
Thanks!

Hello,

Mine does not shut off, but it does go into the blinking yellow light mode and has to be powered off, then powered back on. I have poor reliability with both my Express and Extreme ... not happy, but stuck with them for the moment. Both of them run very hot relative to other wireless network products I have used.

The same here..

..with my Airport Express.. it keeps turning itself off for no reason and randomly!

When I disconnect it, it has to stay at least 10-15 sec. like that before I put it back in the socket. It also feels damn hot!? Could this be an overheating issue?

The guys from our local Apple service (Gravis, Germany) had it running for 4 days, but claim it worked thru.. told them to keep it for one more week.
The thing is.. it sometimes runs for 10 days.. then fails like twice a day.

Did anybody actually solve this? Or even got a statement? Maybe a new Airport Express?

I, too, have this problem and the only solution that I have found so far is to unplug, count to ten, then plug it in again. Yes, mine is hot to the touch.

Currently, my Express has the yellow light blinking, but the connection is up. It has been in this state for 2 days and I have not touched it since it still works. My experience with the Express has lowered my opinion of Apple quality. The worse hardware problems are the ones that only happen intermittently ... they never fail when someone else is watching!!!!

Will be replaced..

Just got a call from the service guy, who checked my Airport Express. He told me that after the 5th day they encountered the problem.. (thank god!)

& it is probably "some kind of hardware problem"
Fact is, and this he told me in earnest, that they just plug it in & look at the light, if it goes off with no reason.. their policy is to replace it with a new(!) one.

Now that should be, but is not a surprise to me, since we all now how things are build these days.. cheap&fast!

Currently going through this!

I just bought an Airport Extreme, hooked it up for my Mother for Christmas and it is turning off constantly and randomly. I made a couple of calls to Apple Care. When I told them the light was going off (vs amber or blinking amber) they made immediate arrangements to send me a new one, including free shipping. I have an Airport Extreme at my home that has always been reliable and a very reliable Airport Express at work. Hoping the new unit will be reliable as my 90 year old Mother will not be able to dx or fix when I leave. She can't get on the floor to unplug it under the desk-she'd never be able to get back on her feet without assistance!
