Hi all.
After the new update of Airport Utility I liked the new switching of profiles now offering network change instead of just configuration data alone. (Apple obviously liked my idea
)
The only thing I'm having trouble with managing then and connection between two separate locations. This stems from the fact you must connect up to Airport in order to change profiles. and this must be done from an already connected network.
I had this problem last night. before I left home, I have two separate profiles "Join a wireless network" & "create a wireless network"
However, over at my mates place, I 'create a wireless network' and connect to his non-wirless router via cable port on AE. Now this was a problem, because AE was looking for the last active connection. couldn't find it. so refused to see an SSID, as the SSID when joining a network must be the same on all network devices. I do this from home, because :
1. i have a non-Apple wireless router (both situated in separate rooms)
2. I use Apple TV in one room to connect to AE, and since AE has joined my other wirless network I have internet access from AE.
3. Nat is disabled on AE. as all devices eg (Mac over wireless, ATV etc.. have 192.168.x subnet)
Since this would not be possible at my mates place, is there someway to bridge the two profiles together or something.. When connection from home, the internet page options are greyed out, so if possible, i can change them from the other profile. but only from my internet enabled location
