hey, i just bought an airport express (802.11n) yesterday that is linked by ethernet to my modem. however, the signal is awful and although my macbook pro is two metres from the airport express, the music keeps stuttering and signal keeps dropping. not sure why this is the case.

how can i test for interference?

here's a picture showing just how the signal fluctuates a lot...

im in an apartment so there are around 3-4 wifi users around me but my iphone keeps the signal fine and so does my dell pc, it's just my macbook pro that keeps dropping. not sure why that's the case since both are made by apple.

i have increased multicast rate from 2mbps to 5.5mbps (11mbps seems to kill the signal completely unless i'm 1 metre from the airport express) and tried turning "use interference robustness" on and off with little difference (it's currently on).

the signal fluctuates there despite me not moving either the laptop or airport express.

am i doomed to mediocre wifi or is there summit wrong with my macbook pro or is there something else i havent considered?

hope you can help.

thank youuu!
