hi, just a quick question. i am thinking of getting an airport express. i will use this mainly for streaming music to my hi-fi. however also want to know if i can use it as a file server if i plug a hard drive with an ethernet port directly into it, or will this not work? also is the spead of the airport express sufficent that data culd be read from that hard drive an music streamed to the airports output at the same time? thanks for any help

The AE has a WAN port not a LAN port, so no not with an AE by itself you'd need another router.

I don't have an epress with me, but i think, if it is an ethernet it could work. As far as a know the ethernet port of an airport express can either be a WAN or a LAN port.

If the SAN device is a normal ethernet enabled device, it should function in my opinion....

but, again, i dont have a AE handy, or a ethernet storage device for that matter.... but i see no problem
