I recently moved into a new apartment that has an Airport Express connected to a cable modem. The network does not have a password. I want to put a password on it so that not everyone in the building can use our internet.

When I connect to the Airport via the Airport Utility, it recognizes the Airport, but asks for a password when I try to configure it. I tried doing a soft reset on the Airport, but it didn't change anything. Are there two passwords for an Airport? If so, how can I bypass the second one? The "Resetting Airport Express" page at apple.com doesn't answer this question. Do I need to do a hard reset? If so, is there anything I need to know about that? We no longer have any of the original literature that came with the product. Thanks.

Time to do a bit of reading...I think it is best to do a HARD reset and start over again. It is quite simple to set up an AE.

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1450 to do a hard reset of the express

and here is the AE manual
