Airport Express Performance Problems

Hi
I have a set up with an airport express wired to my router and my speakers and I connect to the airport from my laptop.
The performace of using airtunes is very poor and will cut out making music unlistenable.
My question is this: my computer's wireless card is only 802.11 b/g, is it worth upgrading this to an 802.11n to solve my problems?'

You don't provide enough details for a detailed answer. Have you tried changing the channel on the AE?

Yes I've tried it on various different channels, and currently my router is on channel 1 and my AEx is on channel 11.
I've also tried it with the robust interference on and off..

I just switched from linksys g to the time capsule and airport express for extending my range in my house and went to all "N" 5ghz,

What a difference. Speed is incrediable compared to the G.

I would do, less interference too from other devices.

I have this problem when I have a heavy download or upload going.
