Hi All,
First post! When I was googling for my problem, Macrumors came up a lot, though the results didn't quite answer my question so I thought I'd sign up and ask directly.
So I have an Airport Express and a PS3 that I connect to my Rockit 5 speakers via separate RCA cables (I don't have a receiver yet). The problem is that the speakers only have one RCA input which means I have to unplug and plug in the device that I want to use the speakers for. So I went and bought a Nexxt Y Connector RCA Cable (two female to male). That's not the exact brand but it's the same idea.
I thought that would solve my problem but I found that when I played through the airport express using airplay or airtunes it worked. I stopped the song. Then turned on my PS3 and started playing a video expecting to hear audio and got nothing. I unplugged the RCA for the airport express from one of the Y connectors and the sound from the PS3 came on. I bought two (one for each speaker), so I thought this one was defective. No dice, it's the same for both. I find it really odd that the PS3 audio comes through once I unplug the airport express. Is it because it's constantly giving a signal and cutting out the PS3 audio?
Can someone help me out? Perhaps I'm doing it all wrong, I'm not really learned in audio ways.
Maybe I should be using this?
