Hi there

Just purchased a new Airport express unit and have a query over setup. I realise it supports a/b/g/n networks at both 2.4 & 5 Ghz, but unlike the time capsule and airport extreme does not work in both frequencies at the same time.

So my question - I have the radio mode selected as 802.11n (b/g compatible) - what frequency is it transmitting on when I select this - 2.4 or 5 ghz??

The devices that connect wirlessly to the express are an iMac (recent model), iPad & iphone 4.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

while the iphone 4 and the ipad both support N, the iphone only has a 2.4 radio.
not sure about the ipad, the iphone spec specifically mention that fact, the ipad's don't.

so if you wan't to use it with the iphone, you must use b/g compatible.

You don't need b/g compatible for iPhone

so if you wan't to use it with the iphone, you must use b/g compatible.

you should be able to use the iPhone with the 802.11n only (2.4 Ghz) setting.
