Airport Express Question

I have an Airport Express, and I would like it to extend my current wireless network to provide dead spots in my house with WiFi. Problem is, every time I try to configure this Airport Express in the Airport Utility, it says "The network you selected cannot be extended." I have no idea why this is. Has anyone had this problem, fixed it, or knows how to fix it? Thanks.

Is the network you're trying to extend made by an AirPort Base Station? The Express (and subsequently any other AirPort router) can only extend other AirPort created networks.
