Hello,

Recently I purchased an AirPort Express for use with my iMac to connect to the internet wirelessly (duh!). I followed all the instructions, connecting all cords to the device before plugging it into the Power outlet and then using AirPort Utility to configure it. AirPort Utility was successful and everything bar the Internet Connection worked so I know that there is nothing wrong with the AirPort itself. I went through Network Diagnosis and Network Setup Assistant to connect, reset my Modem when told to and the Internet worked perfectly....but it kept dropping the connection if the Internet was left idle for even a second. I looked around the Internet (eg. Apple's Support Sites and other Forums), and found that permanent connections were possible and have been achieved with an AirPort and other Wireless Routers and Modems.

I am at my wits end with the device now, I have now resorted to using the APE explicitly for wireless audio and printing, but I seriously didn't spend $130 for that.

I would deeply appreciate some assistance with creating/forging a permanent connection with AirPort to the Internet. I was actually quite shocked that the "It just works" tagline actually proved false to me for the first time ever.

If it helps, I am using Ethernet and have a DSL connection. I have contacted Apple and my ISP both telling me that they (a) Couldn't help me over the phone and to take it into Apple Centre and (b) that they had no clue and weren't trained with Wireless.

Thankyou in advance,
