I recently changed from comcast to ATT and Directv. Previously, I had an easy set up with comcast since the coax jack was by the TV. I could set my modem, cable tv receiver, and airport extreme in one spot and then connect directly to my xbox 360 and tv with network cables.

However, since switching to ATT, I have to move my modem to an area with a phone jack. The problem is that the phone jack is nowhere near my TV and it is too far to run a network cable to my dtv receiver and xbox 360.

Here's my question. Can I connect an airport express to my modem to set up the network and use the airport extreme to extend the network? If I can extend the network with the extreme base station and set it up near my dtv receiver and xbox 360, can I run cables from the extreme base station to the dtv receiver and xbox 360? I really don't want to pay extra money to buy an overpriced xbox 360 wireless adapter and a wireless deca adapter for the dtv receiver if I can solve the problem with an airport express and extreme which I already own.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
