HEllo everybody,

I have a complicated (for a home) network both wired and wireless, main router is a Netgear which is connected by wire to another old router located in a storage which on its end is again connected with a NAS and yet another router in the other side of my apartment to serve my son's area.

I was thinking to remove router #2 (my son's area) cos it's bulky and has a chunky power converter and an Airport Express would look much nicer so, what about to use the Express as a repeater, is it easy to set it up with a fixed IP address to serve just for that purpose or are there better (and cheaper) solutions without being too bulky?

I also have an old Airport Express, the one you plug in the wall AC outlet straight away (not to mention I also have the old Airport Base shaped like an UFO...), I'd like to attach it at the end of a wire coming from router #2 and give my mum's apartment (a floor above) Wi-Fi, again same problem, would like to use some of my existing gear (either the old Express or the UFO one) with a fixed IP to serve as a repeater, which one would share the signal better and to setup easier for the purpose?

Thank you
