Considering buying an Airport Express to handle my music - not sure about something... am I right in thinking that:

Having connected the AirPort Express to my home stereo and then selected it (the home stereo) from the pop-up menu in the lower-right corner of the iTunes window, the audio from iTunes comes from the home stereo whilst other audio (browser, system sounds etc) continue to come from the Mac only?

Seems obvious, but I don't know.

Yes that is correct. All "normal" sounds will be coming from your computer only, and only the music played through iTunez will be heard through your home stereo. However, if you are like me and walk around a lot with your notebook you might want to turn on the option where the music will come both through the home stereo and through your notebook speakers. That way even if you are in a room where the stereo can't be heard you can still listen to the music :).
