I have a 6th gen AE, which had worked fine with my 100 Mbps service from Spectrum. Good downloads, no jittery zoom/team/FT calls. Went to a 200 Mbps local budget service with combined router/modem that they supplied, then things got jittery people telling me that all of my calls were breaking up especially the last 3 months so switched back to Spectrum and pulled out the AE with the ISP modem and service was still not like before. So I popped for a NEST wifi system for my 1400 sq ft townhouse. Trying it out this week and may take it back if its not any better, but from the specs I'm not sure I'm gaining anything and just wanted to throw it out there and ask others if thats the case or not?

I figure the AE is good for maybe another 2 years and then of course wifi 6 might be more common. Not a heavy user, maybe a dozen devices on the system, rare that I streaming video and trying to do calls at the same time so not sure what the deal is unless I blame it on Covid.

But like I said just throwing it out there and asking the question. Thanks in advance?

BTW, I saw AE posts in this forum and the Mac Accessories forum. I chose to come here but if the mod thinks this is better in the other forum I'm happy with a move if they see fit. Thanks again.

I only recently switched from my AirPort Extremes to something newer, and only because of an increasing number of devices on the network (smart home) and because I wanted multiple networks per AP.

My experience is that, as long as you don't have too many devices on your network, the AE are still very capable devices and I consider them to be in the top range of WiFi 5 parts.
